AUTHORS' GUIDELINES

PAPERS SUBMISSION

Papers should present original research and industrial results not published or submitted for publication in other forums. Electronic submission in PDF format to easychair VLSI-SOC 2018 website is required. The proceedings will be published by IEEE and will be made available through IEEE Xplore. A selection of the conference best papers will be invited to submit an extended version to be included as chapters of a book to be published by Springer.

PAPERS FORMAT

Papers should not exceed 6 pages (single-spaced, 2 columns, 10pt font). Submissions should be camera-ready, following the IEEE proceedings specifications.

PAPERS PUBBLICATION AND SPEAKERS REGISTRATION

Papers will be accepted for regular or poster presentation at the conference. Every accepted paper MUST have at least one author registered at the conference by the time the camera-ready paper is submitted; the registered author is also expected to attend the conference and present the paper. A limited number of travel grants are available to needy PhD students from emerging countries.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCEPTED PAPERS

Instructions for final manuscript preparation (unique for both paper and poster proceedings)

  • Use the proper template

You can download IEEE conference templates from

https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html

  • Before Creating a PDF

Add the copyright notice to the bottom of the first page of your source document. If necessary, contact Davide Bertozzi at davide.bertozzi@unife.it for the appropriate copyright notice.

For papers in which all authors are employed by the US government, the copyright notice is: U.S. Government work not protected by U.S. copyright

For papers in which all authors are employed by a Crown government (UK, Canada, and Australia), the copyright notice is:

978-1-5386-4756-1/18/$31.00 ©2018 Crown

For papers in which all authors are employed by the European Union, the copyright notice is: 978-1-5386-4756-1/18/$31.00©2018 European Union

For all other papers the copyright notice is: 978-1-5386-4756-1/18/$31.00 ©2018 IEEE

Tips for adding the IEEE copyright notice to your pdf:

  • You may want to first prepare your pdf, and then add the IEEE copyright notice separately using a pdf editing program. You can then re-print the document in pdf format and then validate it using IEEE PDF eXpress.

  • If you are preparing your paper in LaTeX and you are using the IEEEtran document class, this may help:

    • Add the following code before the \maketitle command:

      • \IEEEoverridecommandlockouts

      • \IEEEpubid{\makebox[\columnwidth]{978-1-5386-4756-1/18/\$31.00~\copyright2018 IEEE \hfill} \hspace{\columnsep}\makebox[\columnwidth]{ }}

  • Add the following code after the \maketitle command: \IEEEpubidadjcol

  • As an alternative, you may want to place the following code just before \begin{document} for the copyright notice to show up (shown below for the generic copyright option above):

    • \IEEEoverridecommandlockouts

    • \IEEEpubid{\makebox[\columnwidth]{978-1-5386-4756-1/18/\$31.00~\copyright2018 IEEE \hfill} \hspace{\columnsep}\makebox[\columnwidth]{ }}

  • Make sure you use the appropriate IEEE copyright notice string, as explained above.

  • Creating your PDF eXpress Account

Log in to the IEEE PDF eXpress TMsite (http://www.pdf-express.org/ )

First-time users should do the following:

  1. Select the New Users - Click Here link.

  2. Enter the following:

    • 43293X for the Conference ID

    • your email address

    • a password

  3. Continue to enter information as prompted.

    • An Online confirmation will be displayed and an email confirmation will be sent verifying your account setup.

    • Previous users of PDF eXpress need to follow the above steps, but should enter the same password that was used for previous conferences. Verify that your contact information is valid.

  4. Convert the paper from its source application format to Xplore-compatible PDFs, or check existing PDFs to determine if they are Xplore-compatible (and how to fix the PDFs if they are not).

IMPORTANT:

Any changes made to a PDF after IEEE PDF eXpress conversion or PDFChecking may invalidate Xplore compatibility. This includes headers, page numbers, copyright notice, watermarks, etc. If any of these elements are desired, they should beadded to the document before a PDF is created.

  • Submit copyright form

If you are an author submitting a manuscript to an IEEE conference, you must also submit an IEEE Copyright Form.

  • Camera-ready upload

Please use Easychair to upload the updated version (camera ready) of your paper.
